NCEL Weekend Preview

9th February, 2007

Retford United must now wait an extra week to play their FA Vase Fifth Round game after it was called off on Friday due to the recent bad weather.

They will now travel to Leamington on Saturday the 17th of February.

It is a day, meanwhile, of intriguing matches once again in the NCEL should the weather hold off.

Premier Division leaders Sheffield are at home to fifth-placed Maltby Main who know that a defeat would put a huge dent in their title aspirations.

With second-placed Retford out of action, there is a chance for two of their nearest rivals to get closer to them in what is undoubtedly the match of the day.

Garforth Town, in fourth, entertain the side just above them, Mickleover Sports in what should be a mammoth clash.

Glapwell, who are sixth, are on their travels to Armthorpe Welfare whilst seventh-placed Carlton Town entertain struggling Thackley.

Defeat for Thackley could mean a chance for Shirebrook Town to move up one place to eighteenth should they be victorious at home to Arnold Town.

And, bottom side Brodsworth Welfare know a win is vital at home to Hallam to stop them from being cut adrift from the rest.

Selby Town host Glasshoughton Welfare whilst Pickering Town make the long trip to Sutton Town in the rest of the top flight action.

There is no doubt, meanwhile, what is the titanic clash in Division One as leaders Parkgate go to the side in fourth place, South Normanton Athletic.

Winterton Rangers will be looking to close the nine-point gap between Parkgate and the rest of the table at Yorkshire Amateur.

And, three points Lincoln Moorlands at home to Worsbrough Bridge would keep them in the hunt for the promotion chase but a victory could prove vital for Worsbrough if they want to keep their chances alive.

Dinnington Town travel south to Derbyshire to face Dinnington Town and Gedling Town go northwards to that county as they travel to Staveley Miners Welfare.

Two of the bottom three sides meet as Rossington Main entertain Teversal whilst Pontefract Collieries go to Hall Road Rangers.
