NCEL Weekend Preview
15th December, 2006
There is a full Premier Division schedule as leaders Sheffield try to keep at least a five point gap between them and the rest of the table.
They travel, though, to a Sutton Town side who are desperate to get themselves back to winning ways after seven league games without a victory.
Second-placed Retford United will be hoping their Nottinghamshire rivals can help them in their attempts to catch the top side up.
But, Retford will also have to make sure they do the business in their game against Long Eaton United.
Although eleventh, Long Eaton go into the game in good form with four wins out their last five matches, three of them away from home.
Maltby Main, who are third, are at Garforth Town desperate to recover from the 6-0 mauling they had at the hands of Glapwell last weekend.
And, the side just below them, Hallam, go to sixteenth-placed Glasshoughton Welfare.
At the other end of the table, it is a Derbyshire derby as bottom side Shirebrook Town visit Mickleover Sports.
And, fellow strugglers Brodsworth Welfare are at home to the team in eighteenth, Thackley, in a massive game for both sides.
Selby Town, in fifth, could go second if they win at home to Eccleshill United and other results go their way.
Carlton Town will stay firmly on their heels with a positive result at Armthorpe Welfare.
The final two games see Glapwell hoping to continue their run of form at home to Arnold Town whilst Pickering Town are at Liversedge.
There are seven matches in Division One with all the top four teams in action.
Leaders Parkgate are away to Tadcaster Albion knowing any slip-up could let their closest rivals, Winterton Rangers, who are at home to AFC Emley, take over at the top.
Nostell Miners Welfare, who are third, are not far behind although they have played more games than the two sides above them.
And, they hope to keep on the pressure but have a tough trip to Pontefract Collieries.
Fourth-placed South Normanton Athletic, who have said their aims are to finish in the top three this season, could find themselves there at the end of play but need to win at Derbyshire rivals Borrowash Victoria.
The Vics, though, will be looking to extend the gap between them and bottom side Rossington Main, who are not playing, to six points with victory.
Another team also hoping to do that are sixteenth-placed Yorkshire Amateur as they host Lincoln Moorlands.
Gedling Town are at home to Hall Road Rangers in a top ten clash whilst Teversal entertain Worsbrough Bridge.
