Seadogs Announce Acting Manager
21st September, 2010
Scarborough Athletic have announced an acting manager who will take charge whilst boss Brian France remains unavailable.
A statement on the club's official website reads: "Scarborough Athletic FC has moved to ensure a correct management structure remains in place for the first team squad.
"Following the news that manager Brian France may be unable to take charge of the squad for some time after injuries sustained at Liversedge, an acting manager has been put in place.
"Paul Olsson, who guided the team to victory against Crook Town at the weekend, will step up from his role as first team coach and will be the club's acting first team manager for the interim period.
"The Board will keep the situation under review as more information becomes available about the length of time Brian will be absent as manager.
"Paul has been first team coach for the last 12 months, and will take charge of his first game as acting manager at Hallam this evening.
"Joining Paul on the bench at Hallam will be Brian's son Darren France.
"Darren has been cleared to assist Paul at matches by his consultant, following a 15-month battle with cancer, which was treated with a bone marrow transplant earlier this year.
"Darren has been keen to return to the set-up for some time, and following the injury to his father has sought the permissions required to help Paul on matchdays.
"The board welcome Darren back to club duties and thank him for his commitment to Scarborough Athletic FC, and wish both him and Paul well in their roles after a trying time for all concerned with the club."
