Hellewell takes the reins at Rangers
21st December, 2018
Winterton Rangers have announced that Scott Hellewell will be stepping up from the role of assistant boss to take over the vacant position of manager of the Toolstation NCEL Division One team.
Hellewell, who replaces Rob Watson who was sacked by the West Street side at the start of the week, will be joined in the dugout by new player-assistant boss Paul Grimes.
Coach John Taylor will be staying in his role, the club has also confirmed.
In a statement on the club's website, Hellewell said: "I'm really pleased to be the manager of Winterton Rangers, it's an ambitious club with great facilities and I feel privileged to be given this chance.
"The club in the past week has come in for a bit of criticism but I'm hoping, with a turn in fortunes on the pitch, the negativity will soon disappear.
"The club is in a great position in the league and still has every chance of pushing for promotion.
"Rob Watson has done a great job to get us in the position we are in but unfortunately sometimes in football decisions are made and it's ended up in Rob leaving the club.
"I have no doubt he will be very successful in the game and I will stay in contact with him.
"As a club, we need to start getting results as the last few weeks we have struggled, confidence is low but all the lads are pulling in the right direction.
"We have received offers in for our players this week as other clubs will see us as a club in turmoil but that is not the case.
"To back that up, all three players have agreed to stay at the club and are fully behind myself, Paul and [John]."
