Garner celebrates 200th game for Welfare
9th September, 2018
Armthorpe Welfare captain Steven Garner made his 200th appearance for the Toolstation NCEL Division One club in Saturday's 4-2 home victory over Skegness Town.
A presentation of a framed shirt numbered 200 with Garner's name on it was handed over to him by chairman Lee Carmody and manager Mike Carmody prior to kick-off.
Garner first joined Welfare in the summer of 2012 and made his debut on 4th August 2012 in a 2-1 home Premier Division defeat to Long Eaton United.
He went on to make 41 appearances for the club that season, all of them in the starting eleven, and scored four goals - all from the penalty spot.
The following season Garner went on to make 48 appearances, scoring once, with the 2014/15 season bringing 33 appearances.
This was followed in the 2015/16 season by 22 appearances and one goal, in the last game of the season away at Garforth Town.
Injury saw the 2016/17 season limited to just twelve appearances but last season saw Garner play in 39 matches, 37 of which were starts with the two substitute appearances last season being the only two substitute appearances made by him for the club.
All at the NCEL congratulate him on reaching the milestone and we wait for the presentation when he makes his 400th appearance!
