Villa Hold Presentation Evening
12th June, 2011
Askern Villa's 2010/11 season was finally rounded off in style on Friday evening as the club held its annual presentation evening.
Manager Brian Johnston and Chris O'Grady from the committee were on hand to present the awards.
Goalkeeper Steve Hernandez won both the Manager's Player of the Season and Player's Player of the Season award after having an outstanding campaign.
He never missed a training session, is a popular member in the dressing room and also showed loyalty to the club by turning down a move to Staveley Miners Welfare last season.
Assistant Manager Mark Vickerage won the top goalscorer award, the fifth time he had done so in the last six seasons.
He has thrown down the gauntlet to the rest of the players by saying he wanted someone to beat him in the next campaign.
The club's Most Improved Player of the Season was 16-year-old Jay Rollins whose outstanding campaign has attracted attention from several professional clubs.
Jay was brought on steadily by Johnston through last season, featuring on the subs bench and used when the manager thought the time was right to give him a taste of first team football.
And, in the last couple of months, he became an automatic choice for the senior side.
Clubman of the Year was a popular choice, with Ian Tallentire taking the award.
Ian works tirelessly for the club doing various tasks such as kitman, helping down at the ground and fundraising.
