Villa Game to Go Ahead Despite Break-In
18th February, 2011
Askern Villa say their league match tomorrow at home to Barton Town Old Boys will go ahead despite a break-in at their ground last night.
There has been damage to the match officials changing room door, the generator room and the refreshment rooms whilst items have also been stolen.
The nearby cricket pavilion was also broken into as was the clubhouse before the alarm went off to disturb the thieves.
A spokesman for the KoolSport NCEL Division One side said: "It couldn't have come at a worse time for us.
"Whilst we have nearly completed the ground improvements to get our ground grading, everything was geared up to make sure we finished that in the next few weeks.
"But now we have to sort this mess out before getting back to dealing with the ground and we will have to spend hundreds of pounds on this which would be better off spent on the ground improvements."
