Leeds Carnegie are both sad and delighted to announce the departure of manager-coach Graham Potter as he prepares to take over the reins at Swedish tier four club, Ostersund FK.The KoolSport NCEL Division One side are obviously sad as Graham will be greatly missed by everyone at the Club and University, none more so than the players who over the last two-and-a-half years have bought into and love playing the possession style of football Graham believes in and promotes so passionately.
But, they are also delighted as he will have the opportunity to manage and develop a forward thinking and ambitious club, allowing him the chance to implement his style and philosophy in the challenging and demanding environment of professional football.
John Hall, Director of Football, says: "I have been fortunate to have worked with Graham (right) over the last few years.
"We have spent a lot of time together and had some good times and some tough times, good debates, and some great laughs.
"For someone who has represented his country, played in the FA Premier League and amassed 320 professional games, he is a humble man.
"For me, he is a true student of the game and outstanding young coach with his own beliefs, thoughts and philosophy about football, how it should be played, how we need to develop and educate our young players and coaches in this country.
"His decision to move on, not just to a new club but also a new country, epitomises Graham's strong desire to succeed within football.
"In the time he has been at Leeds Met, he has led the club to the Universities Premier League, the third round of the FA Vase and, were it not for last season's international clearance ruling, the team would be playing in the NCEL Premier Division.
"He should also be proud that he has been able to develop our students not only as players but also as young people which should never be underestimated, especially within the Higher Education sector.
"On behalf of Leeds Metropolitan University, I wish Graham and his family every success.
"I, for one, will be keenly following Graham's career as I think it will be one to watch."
