Emley Prepare For Historic Match
14th July, 2010
AFC Emley continue their pre season preparations against the newly reformed Farsley AFC on Thursday evening at the Welfare Ground.
This is Farsley's inaugural fixture after a new club was formed from the ashes of Farsley Celtic who went bankrupt last season.
Farsley are managed by ex-Huddersfield Town man Neil Parsley who is assisted by the prolific former Emley and Wakefield striker Simeon Bambrook.
Bambrook is also signed on a player and is likely to figure in the squad for the game.
The newly formed club will be starting life in the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division and are already many punters firm favourites for promotion.
Emley manager Darren Bland will be looking for a more attacking performance from his side who were beaten 0-5 by a full strength Huddersfield Town squad on Friday.
He said: "Against Town, with all of their attacking options, we knew that we would need to play a more defensive strategy otherwise they would completely overrun us.
"I'm hoping that we'll be able to create a lot more chances against Farsley and expecting a much closer game."
Meanwhile, Emley have announced their final friendly fixture against Nottingham based EMCL club Radford on Tuesday 3rd August.
And, their match with Worksop Town which was due to be played at Retford will now be played at Shirebrook Town's Langwith Road ground on Wednesday 21st August.
