Staveley Get Gregory Boost
4th August, 2009
Staveley Miners Welfare striker Lee Gregory has committed his future to the Inkersall Road club, rejecting a possible move to Alfreton Town.
The KoolSport NCEL Division One side's website says the forward has turned down a move to the Blue Square North outfit.
It explains: "Despite the lure of possibly playing football at a higher level, Lee told a delighted manager Darren Bland that he did not wish to leave Staveley after nearly two years with the club.
"Lee's brilliant form in the second half of last season has brought obvious attraction from clubs at a higher level in the non-league pyramid.
"The club have not been surprised to have had several recent enquiries regarding several players following the pre-season friendly campaign where the club's youngsters have impressed against much more older and experienced players.
"The club are delighted with the 'togetherness' shown yet again by the squad and management team to overcome such approaches for one of the club's young stars."
