6th December, 2007
A benefit match was held last night at Yorkshire Amateur's ground, Bracken Edge, in support of the Eden Shaw Holiday Fund.
Eden is an 11-year-old girl who has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer that affects her face, skull, arm, ribs, pelvis and thigh.
The campaign, which has been organised by the Dewsbury Reporter, hopes to raise ?7,000 to send Eden on her Dream Holiday.
The game which was attended by Eden's father, Brendan, was between a Leeds & District representative team and a Yorkshire Amateur team and ended with a 4-2 win for Leeds & District.
The excellent total of ?131 was raised with the official donating their expenses, Yorkshire Amateur the use of the floodlights and David and Ann Packham the hospitality for officials and players.
There is a further raffle being organised which will be drawn at the clubhouse on the 15th of December with the main prizes being a shirt signed by Tore Andre Flo donated by Leeds United and a massive cuddly dog donated by Dransfield's.
Tickets are available from the clubhouse on Roxholme Road which is open nightly from 6pm and from midday at weekends.
