Congratulations to Worksop Town who were crowned Toolstation NCEL Premier Division champions and commiserations to FC Bolsover whose relegation place in Division One was confirmed on Saturday.Worksop knew that victory at
Albion Sports would confirm them the title with two games to spare and they wrapped up the match by half-time with all the goals in a 4-0 win coming in the opening period.
Matthew Sykes converted a penalty to set them on their way before Steven McDonnell and Lee Hill gave the Tigers a three-goal cushion and Sykes then wrapped things up with his second in the 44th minute.
The title triumph means that Worksop will make a return to Step 4 football after five years in the NCEL.
Penistone Church, meanwhile, secured second spot as they won 3-1 at home to
Staveley Miners Welfare, coming from behind after Kurtis Morley struck for the visitors with goals from James Young, Jordan Coduri and Andrew Ring.
A 4-2 victory at
Athersley Recreation saw
Bridlington Town take a big step towards ensuring a top-three finish with Jake Day, Joe McFadyen, Benn Lewis and Brett Agnew netting for the Seasiders whilst Lee Garside and Ryan White got the goals for the Penguins.
Maltby Main climb above
Hemsworth Miners Welfare into fourth after beating them 2-1 at the Distant Future Stadium, Joseph Lumley and Bradley Morton getting on the scoresheet after Nash Connolly had broken the deadlock in the seventeenth minute.
Yorkshire Amateur also leapfrog Hemsworth after an Ashley Flynn double, following Jason St Juste's opener, in a 3-0 home victory over
Hall Road Rangers that sees them move up to fifth.
Rangers remain just outside the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of
Goole AFC who were also beaten, Sam Barker and Joseph Colley netting in a 2-0 home win for
Garforth Town over the Vikings.
And, basement side
Harrogate Railway Athletic were seven minutes away from moving out of the bottom two, thanks to Daniel Blacker's goal, but hosts
Knaresborough Town equalised through Luke Stewart for a 1-1 draw.
One point away from safety, the Rail have only one game left in their bid for survival and they will be hoping they will still be in with a chance of staying up when they travel to Staveley Miners Welfare on the final day of the season in a fortnight's time.
The remaining three top flight matches all featured sides looking for their best finishes in midtable and it was honours even in two of the games with
Bottesford Town drawing 1-1 at
Barton Town whilst
Handsworth Parramore were held 2-2 by
Thackley.
Jack McMenemy's opener for Bottesford was cancelled out by a Thomas Johnston own goal, and there were two goals each for Handsworth's Leon Howarth and Thackley's Jack Normanton.
And,
Eccleshill United came from behind with an Antony Brown penalty and an Aaron Fell own goal to beat visitors
Liversedge, who had gone ahead through Joe Walton, 2-1.
In Division One,
FC Bolsover's brave resistance finally came to an end as a 3-2 home loss to
Parkgate means they will finish in the bottom two.
The Langwith Road side went ahead with a goal from Lewis Warwick but the visitors made sure of the win in the second period, courtesy of strikes from Silas Valladolid-Collins, Matthew Crookes and Lewis Whitaker, before Jack Warwick's late penalty added to the hosts' tally.
Bolsover's fate was sealed in the match between the two sides just above them as
Ollerton Town won 1-0 at
Harworth Colliery, Brandon Shaw with the vital goal on 25 minutes, to leave Bolsover seven points from safety with two games remaining.
It was a massive win for Ollerton who are now five points clear of the drop zone and they go above
Shirebrook Town who are only three points away from danger after a 5-0 loss at
AFC Emley.
Shirebrook's eighth straight loss, a run that has seen them dragged into the relegation dogfight, came after their hosts ran riot in the first half with penalties from Dan Stocker and Patrick Sykes as well as goals from Paul Pyke, Michael Starkey and Benjamin Burnett.
Rossington Main,
Skegness Town and
Armthorpe Welfare all tasted defeat but, thanks to Harworth's loss, have had their Toolstation NCEL status secured for next season.
Iren Wilson put Rossington ahead at
East Yorkshire Carnegie but Daniel Walker and Josh Walker made sure of a 2-1 home win by half-time whilst Skegness fell to a 1-0 loss at
Winterton Rangers, Liam Nelthorpe's goal keeping fourth-placed Rangers in with an outside chance of the title.
And, Armthorpe went down 2-1 at home to
Selby Town, all of the goals coming in the last ten minutes with Ryan Woodhead and Gary Collier scoring for the Robins before Craig Aspinall's late consolation for Welfare.
The chase to become Division One champions looks set to go down to the wire with just three points separating the top three.
Grimsby Borough remain at the summit after a 2-0 victory at
Dronfield Town, Jack Debnam and James Dean-Atkinson securing the win in the second period.
Second-placed
Campion also won to stay behind Borough on goal difference but they had to come from 2-0 down at home to
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and had to wait until stoppage time for a dramatic 3-2 victory.
Sam Corner and Shaun Mundy gave the visitors the perfect start before Aiden Day and Jason Davis restored parity by the 71st minute with Day then grabbing his second in what could prove to be a pivotal win for James Bicknell's side.
Hallam, meanwhile, lost ground in third with a 1-1 draw at
Swallownest, Alex Lill scoring first for the hosts before Kieran Watson made sure of a point apiece on the hour mark, leaving the Sandygate side three points off the summit.
And, in the one match played on Friday night, Billy Mole, Andrew Horbury, Kane Reece and Adam Hayton struck in a comfortable 4-0 win for fifth-placed
Nostell Miners Welfare at neighbours
Glasshoughton Welfare.
