25th October, 2010

Bridlington Town took advantage of Farsley AFC?s slip up at home on Saturday to close the gap at the top of the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division to five points.

The leaders were held to a 1-1 draw by Nostell Miners Welfare, needing a late Simeon Bambrook penalty to level after James Eyles had given the visitors a nineteenth minute lead.

Bridlington were comfortable 5-1 winners at struggling Hallam, Wayne Wallace with two of the goals whilst Steve Lyon, Craig Hogg and Ashley Allanson also got on the scoresheet for the Seasiders who have three games in hand on Farsley.

Third-placed Parkgate kept up with the title chase but needed an 88th minute winner in a 4-3 thriller at home to Long Eaton United.

Matthew Griffin had put them ahead on 20 but Kelvin Mushambi and Gary Chaplin gave the visitors the lead, Aiden Brady's own goal levelled the scores and Paul Gamble restored Long Eaton's advantage from the penalty spot - all in the last ten minutes of the opening period.

William Senior made it 3-3 after the break and that is how it stayed until Keir Hannity became the hero late on for the hosts.

Brighouse Town left it even later to pick up three points at Scarborough Athletic to move up into fourth spot.

It was 1-1 going into the last ten minutes before Denny Ingram's own goal put the visitors ahead.

The home fans thought they had stolen a point when Northen grabbed his second on 88 but Daniel Davidson popped up in injury time to give Brighouse their fourth away win of the season.

Tadcaster Albion climb into fifth place after a 1-1 draw at home to Winterton Rangers, their opener from Carl Stewart cancelled out by a Craig Robinson penalty on the hour.

They go above Thackley who were beaten 1-0 by Jamie Barnwell's 73rd minute strike at Hall Road Rangers.

The most thrilling game came at Eagle Valley where Arnold Town shared ten goals with Pickering Town.

The first half was a dramatic affair with both sides taking the lead before Martin Carruthers' second of the afternoon gave Arnold a 3-2 advantage going into the interval.

But, that was nothing compared to what was to come in the second period.

Ashley Towler equalised on 69 minutes and Nathan Cook put the Pikes ahead soon after from the penalty spot.

Tommy Hannigan made it 4-4 on 82 minutes, Cook restored the visitors' lead again from twelve yards but Luke Smithson ensured the spoils were shared, making it 5-5 as the game went into injury time.

Lincoln Moorlands Railway notched up their first home win of the season to move out of the bottom two, 4-0 at home to Maltby Main, Ben Good with two of their goals.

A Michael Blythen double helped Dinnington Town to a 4-2 victory over visitors Armthorpe Welfare whilst basement side Liversedge drew 1-1 at home to Selby Town.

Ryan Damms and Ashley Foyle got the second half goals to keep them a point ahead of Pontefract Collieries who won 3-2 at home to Handsworth, Joe Thornton striking what proved to be the winner.

Barton Town Old Boys won by the same scoreline at home to Shirebrook Town to climb into third place despite an excellent solo effort from Simon Johnson and a beautifully crafted free-kick from Gareth Davey for the visitors.

Leeds Carnegie drop to fourth after their draw at Hemsworth Miners Welfare in what was another game with a dramatic finale.

It was 1-1 going into the last ten minutes when Colin Williamson put Hemsworth ahead on 82 but Paul Harrison restored parity virtually from the restart.

Jon Impey looked to have snatched all three points for the home side in injury time but he then conceded a penalty which was slotted home by Scott McGrory to make it 3-3.

Lee Stephenson struck twice in the last ten minutes to turn defeat into victory for Grimsby Borough, 3-2 at Teversal, and they move up into fifth spot.
