NCEL 2010/11 Match Review #19
11th October, 2010
A Ben Good equaliser twenty minutes from time kept Lincoln Moorlands Railway alive in the FA Cup whilst Farsley AFC stretched their lead at the top of the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division at the weekend.
Moorlands drew 1-1 at home to Evo-Stik side Mossley after Ben Richardson had given the Greater Manchester outfit a first-half lead in their Third Qualifying Round tie.
The two teams meet again at Seel Park on Tuesday night.
Farsley are now seven points clear of the rest in the League after their 4-1 home win over Armthorpe Welfare.
Roy Stamer and Amjad Iqbal had them two-up after just thirteen minutes but their joy was short-lived when, just before the half-hour mark, Iqbal had to be taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg.
Armthorpe were reduced to ten men as Ben Muirhead was shown a red card by the referee.
James Knowles grabbed a late double to put the game beyond doubt for Farsley and Armthorpe picked up an injury-time consolation through a Henry Sibenge penalty.
Bridlington Town, who started the day in second, lost ground on the leaders as they were beaten 3-1 at Tadcaster Albion.
Wayne Wallace had put them ahead in the first period but the home side, who move up to eighth after their win, turned the game around after the interval with goals from Graeme Whitehead, Matthew Howgate and Robert Pell.
Parkgate's 3-2 win at home to Selby Town sees them climb into second with Nathan Swindells, Janni Lipka and Daniel Cardwell getting on the scoresheet for the hosts.
The Robins, though, kept the game interesting as Steve Barrett and Rob Eeles twice reduced the visitors' deficit to one goal.
Darren Clough's winner seventeen minutes from time earned Pickering Town a 2-1 win at Hallam and they move up into fourth spot.
And, Thackley climb to fifth after Matthew Mathers struck in the sixteenth minute at Scarborough Athletic with the only goal of the game.
Brighouse Town drop to sixth with their 2-1 defeat at Arnold Town, Darren Bettison with both the Eagles' goals, the winner coming in injury-time in dramatic fashion to move them out of the bottom three.
A 3-2 victory at home to Hall Road Rangers saw Liversedge move off the bottom of the table, replaced there by their visitors.
Andy Atkinson struck what proved to be the winner on 69 minutes but Matthew Fyvie's goal threatened a late comeback by Rangers.
Maltby Main won 1-0 at Winterton Rangers, Chris Dickman scoring from the penalty spot on 29 minutes, whilst Dinnington Town drew 1-1 at home to Long Eaton United.
There were plenty of goals in Division One but the top of the table was unchanged with the leading three all winning their matches.
Pontefract Collieries stay top on goal difference after their 4-2 victory at Eccleshill United, Lee Garside getting two of their goals whilst Joe Thornton and Carl Fothergill also got on the scoresheet for them.
Staveley Miners Welfare remain second despite their 4-0 win over hosts Hemsworth Miners Welfare, courtesy of goals from Andrew Fox, Ryan Damms, Aymen Tahar and Kyle Fores-Chambers.
Two points behind in third are Barton Town Old Boys who, thanks to a Gareth Barlow hat-trick, were 3-1 winners at home to Handsworth, who drop to seventh, five points behind the leaders.
Victories for Leeds Carnegie, Bottesford Town and Louth Town moved them all above Handsworth as the top of the Division One table continues to be very tight.
Carnegie were 4-0 winners at bottom side Brodsworth Welfare whilst Phil Doyle's two goals helped Bottesford Town to a 3-1 victory at home to Shirebrook Town and Louth Town thumped visitors Rossington Main 5-0, Danny Warvill with a brace along with further goals from Danny Kilmore, Tim Lowe and Andy Reeson.
Dell Pollock and Darrell Young grabbed two each as Glasshoughton Welfare won 5-2 at Askern Villa with Mark Vickerage netting a double for the home side as well.
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic won by the same margin at home to Grimsby Borough whilst Spencer Goff's 70th minute strike was enough to seal a 1-0 win for AFC Emley at Teversal.
And, Yorkshire Amateur were 4-2 winners over their visitors, Appleby Frodingham.
