A Liam Hardy penalty moved Armthorpe Welfare to within two points of KoolSport NCEL Premier Division leaders, Bridlington Town, on Saturday.
The spot-kick was converted on 65 minutes to give them a 1-0 win at home to Parkgate to keep the title chase very much alive, although Bridlington, who did not play at the weekend, have two games in hand on their rivals.
Third-placed Rainworth remain nine points behind Armthorpe after they were 3-0 winners over visitors Liversedge, their first victory in ten games.
Craig Mitchell and Neil Grayson had them two-up by the 22nd minute before Massiah McDonald made sure of the points with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.
Thackley, who are fourth, won by the same scoreline at Long Eaton United although the contest was a lot closer with two of their goals coming in injury time.
Fifth-placed Scarborough Athletic's hopes of a top four finish were hit as they were held to 1-1 draw at Maltby Main after they had taken the lead on five minutes through Bill Law.
