NCEL 2009/10 Match Review #30
19th November, 2009
Hallam's midweek trip to Penrith ended without reward as they were knocked out of the FA Vase on Tuesday.
Despite goals from James Baker and Simon Asquith, they were beaten 5-2, thanks mainly to a hat-trick from Martyn Coleman.
Armthorpe Welfare's re-arranged trip to Daisy Hill on Wednesday was postponed for a second time and they will now try again on Saturday in their Second Round tie.
Scarborough Athletic had the dubious honour of being knocked out of the KoolSport NCEL Presidents Cup for the second time this season as they lost 2-1 at home to Dinnington Town.
After being reinstated into the competition, they were beaten by goals from Grant Allott and Liam Morris whilst, in between, they had some cheer when Mark Griffin found the net.
In Division One, there were two midweek matches, including a 3-0 home win for Rossington Main over Barton Town Old Boys.
Jason Stokes struck twice whilst Jake Vernon also got on the scoresheet as Main move up to twelfth above a Grimsby Borough side who lost 3-1 at home to Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
Damion Liddle, Calum Selby and Jon Impey had the game beyond doubt with fifteen minutes to go before a late consolation from Richard Belding for the hosts.
And, there were mixed fortunes in the Derbyshire Senior Cup Second Round.
Paul McGinty's brace helped Long Eaton United through, 2-0 at home to Chapel Town, but Shirebrook Town bowed out to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of visitors, New Mills AFC.
