Eight Clubs Apply For UniBond
6th January, 2010
Eight KoolSport NCEL Premier Division clubs have applied to make the move up to the UniBond League.
Bridlington Town, Liversedge, Long Eaton United, Pickering Town, Rainworth Miners Welfare, Scarborough Athletic, Selby Town and Thackley have signalled their interest to the Football Association by the 31st of December deadline.
It's expected that only one side will go up from the NCEL into the UniBond.
That is likely to be the Premier Division champions or, if they haven't applied or their ground hasn't attained the correct grading in time, the runners-up.
Meanwhile, the following clubs have expressed an interest in joining the KoolSport NCEL:
Athersley Recreation and Handsworth from the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League, and Louth Town and Parramore Sports - who play at Don Valley Stadium - from the Central Midlands League.
The League Management Board are awaiting further advice from The FA before processing these applications further.
The FA are also currently formulating their restructuring of Step 7 football and the new Step 7 leagues, becoming "feeder leagues" to the NCEL, should be in place for season 2010/11.
