Ponte Name New Management Team
6th June, 2008
Last season's bottom side in Division One, Pontefract Collieries, have announced the management team they hope will change their fortunes.
Simon Houghton will be the new boss at Skinner Lane and he will be assisted by Darren Smith.
They replace Roly Lanes and Graham Asquith who were relieved of their duties last month.
It is part of massive overhaul at Ponte that has also seen a new Reserve management team also installed.

Ponte Part With Management Duo
18th May, 2008
Manager Roly Lanes and his assistant Graham Asquith have paid the price for Pontefract Collieries finishing bottom of Division One.
Their roles were terminated at a club committee meeting on the 30th of April.
The news has only just come out because there was a period in which the duo could appeal the decision.
The club have thanked them both for their hard work and commitment and wished them every success in the future.
The search is now on for their replacements and anyone interested is invited to email their application to karl@pontecollsfc.co.uk.

Colls' Learning Difficulties Team Boost
28th January, 2008
Pontefract Collieries have been surprised by the amount of interest for a football team dedicated to people with learning difficulties in the town.
The club put a tentative enquiry in to their local paper, Pontefract & Castleford Express, about plans to set up the side and have been overwhelmed by the response.
A spokesperson for the NCEL Division One outfit said: "Our launch date is Saturday 9th February at 11am and is initially aimed at 15-year-olds and upwards.
"Should this be successful, as we expect, then other teams will follow, especially for children as we have also experienced interest from youngsters desperate to play football.
"Everyone is welcome and please bring your boots for what we are hoping will be lots of fun.
"Anyone wishing to get involved and help will also be welcome and we can guide them in the direction of coaching courses etc. if they wish.
"Once coaching sessions get underway, we will soon be looking at arranging competitive matches with other teams in surrounding areas as we are already experiencing interest from outside Pontefract for matches."
