Shirebrook Influx Continues
31st March, 2008
Shirebrook Town have added two more players to their squad as they try to avoid relegation.
They have signed 36-year-old centre-forward Dean Short from Teversal who has also previously played for Goole Town, Alfreton Town, Ashfield United and Sutton Town.
He is well known in the local area as an all action centre forward who has scored goals at every club he has been at.
The Langwith Road side have also signed defender Jonathan Jackson from Lincoln United, initially on a one month loan deal.
Jonathan returned from university last year in Manchester and has played for Lincoln and Wakefield in the UniBond Premier.
Manager Pete Shuttleworth said: "We are delighted to attract someone like Jonathan to the club.
"He has an undoubted calibre and we have beat a number of clubs to his signature.
"Great credit needs going to Mark Hall who has worked tirelessly over the last two weeks to bring new faces to the club and this is testament to his hard work.
"I am also hopeful there will be at least three or four new faces before the 31st March deadline to add competition to the squad."
Meanwhile, Mark Hall has been confirmed as General Manager of the club.
Mark came to the club as Assistant Manager two weeks ago but it is thought he could have a greater impact in the General Managers job.
His role will involve structuring the club so that the First Team, Reserves, Under 19's and Academy Team (next year) can work to their full potential and move the club forward.
Mark is also responsible for recruiting players.
Pete Shuttleworth will continue as First Team Manager and will be assisted by Andy White for the foreseeable future.
