Eccleshill Pay Tribute To Stokes
22nd February, 2008
Eccleshill United have been left stunned by the death of one of their long-serving volunteers whilst he was away on holiday.
Secretary Paul Jarvis told the Telegraph & Argus: "Ken Stokes, our long-serving gateman and general helper, passed away during a short break in Portugal.
"He had not been himself for a while but we were all hoping the holiday would do him good but unfortunately he suffered a heart attack.
"We had a minute's silence before the home game against Glasshoughton Welfare on Saturday and there were a lot of sad faces as Ken had been a part of the club for so long.
"At times like this, all the thoughts are with his family. The club will miss him but that is nothing compared to the loss his family will feel."
The NCEL send their deepest condolences to Eccleshill United and to Ken's friends and family.
