Beanz Meanz Cup Win For Long Eaton
20th August, 2007
Long Eaton United started their FA Cup bid at the weekend slightly differently to the rest of the NCEL.
Ahead of their home tie with Bridgnorth Town, the team enjoyed a good old-fashioned 70?s breakfast of beans-on-toast and arrived at their club house decked out in 70's clothes.
Indeed, it was management team Craig Weston and Steve Hamilton who took to the kitchen to cook the team their breakfasts and it seemed to work as they won the tie 2-1.
Chairman Jim Fairley said: "Craig and Steve are obviously building a great team spirit at Long Eaton.
"And, that's obvious when you see the players enjoying themselves and, just as importantly, winning games.
"It's very early days but, so far, we have a 100% record - played three and won three - and it's been a good start to the season."
Hamilton added: "The lads know me and Craig enjoy the benefits of a good team spirit but we're all here to do a job and that's to do our best for Long Eaton United on a consistent basis.
"If we can be successful in doing that then we know we have the ability at this club to achieve a top-six finish this season."
