Regan Chooses Thackley Over Scunny
20th July, 2007
Coach Sean Regan will definitely be helping Thackley in the coming season after turning down an approach from a Football League outfit.
Regan has been working within the youth set-ups at League clubs and initially decided to come to Thackley to work with an open age team as he works towards his FIFA pro-licence.
Scunthorpe United got wind of the move and offered him a role, which he did consider but chose not to accept.
"We look at it as a massive boost to our backroom staff and a huge compliment to Thackley football club," said manager John Boyle, who former Thackley player Regan had expressed a desire to work alongside.
"We thought we had lost him but he went to talk to family, friends and contacts in the game. When he came back and said he would honour his original promise and stay with us instead, it was a surprise. We asked him not to rush such a big decision and take a few days.
"After thinking it over he said he was very committed to Thackley, wanted to stay and we are chuffed to bits. He has already had a major impact.
"The players are loving it, they are having a bit of fun, developing their skills and really building up their fitness."
