Regan Blow For Thackley
11th July, 2007
Thackley will now not benefit from the experience and expertise of coach Sean Regan after a late approach to him by Scunthorpe United.
Regan had been working with the academies of Sheffield United and Wednesday over the past few years.
However, now working towards his A licence, he had to be involved with an open-aged side, so he came to Dennyfield.
Thackley boss John Boyle said: "Unfortunately for us, Sean was offered a job at a full-time outfit after he had agreed to join us.
"There was obviously no decision to be made - Thackley in the Northern Counties East Premier Division or Scunthorpe United in the Football League?
"It was too good an opportunity for him to turn down and he took it up with no bad feeling from this end. We are delighted for him and wish him well in his new position."
Boyle will not be filling the role Regan would have held but he is still on a recruitment drive.
"As a club we are on the lookout for new people with coaching and management skills for our reserve team and academy," added first-team manager Boyle.
"There are several positions that need filling within the club. We would also like to hear from someone with sports injuries qualifications or knowledge to volunteer some of their time to act as a physio.
"All of the three main teams at the club could use someone in that role, or even someone with the most basic first aid training who can act as a bucket man."
