Greenwood Explains Decision To Leave
6th July, 2007
Stuart Greenwood has been explaining why he has resigned as joint manager of Shirebrook Town.
An official statement from the Langwith Road club yesterday confirmed rumours of his departure.
Greenwood has told the Mansfield Chad that personal reasons prompted his decision.
"I resigned a couple of weeks ago initially and Graham Charlesworth asked me to reconsider, but I've decided to go," he said.
"I've tried to help take the club forward in my time here but I feel the time is right to go," he said.
Remaining manager Charlesworth described Greenwood as "the club's unsung hero."
"I'm really gutted that Stuart has decided to go," he said.
"We've been a managerial partnership for the past five years or so and it's been a brilliant relationship.
"We are a team and we've worked very well together, not only here but at work too.
"We remain very good friends, and I've tried to talk him round but he's made his decision."
He added: "No-one has done more over the years for Shirebrook Town Football Club than Stuart, both on and off the field, and he really is the club's unsung hero."
Charlesworth is not rushing to bring a successor on board.
"We'll see how the land lies and make a decision based on how things go," he said.
