Sedge Part Company With Quinn
11th June, 2007
Liversedge FC has parted company with Gerry Quinn and a new Manager will be in place by the end of this week.
New Sedge Chairman Mark Brier's first main job was to formally accept Gerry Quinn's resignation last weekend.
In a statement to the Official NCEL website, he said: "It was always agreed that Quinn would help the Clayborn outfit to the end of the season and then both parties would review the situation in the summer.
"Sedge's priority is developing the club's facilities and youth programme to underpin first team activities.
"However, Quinn's required expenses budget has proved to be much more demanding than originally estimated with Quinn's targeted players wanting more than expected.
"And, as the club is unable to meet what would be a significant increase, it has been mutually decided that Quinn will move on.
"I would like to thank Gerry Quinn on behalf of Liversedge FC for helping the club through our difficult time last season.
"It was a strange position to be in from both the club's and Gerry's perspective but we still managed between us to maintain a reasonable squad, with a few new faces our Academy players' input.
"We have to be realistic in that the expenses available to the fist team squad have to be in balance with getting the facilities up to scratch in the longer term.
"I'm disappointed that this hasn't worked out for us and I personally and sincerely wish Gerry all the best, whichever club he decides to manage.
"I would also like to pass the club's regards and wishes to Steve Graley.
"An offer has been made to another of the top candidates for the Sedge job last January.
"It wasn't possible at that time to appoint this person but things have changed and discussions have taken place, a verbal agreement has been reached and once the details are confirmed, an announcement will be made later this week."
