Champions Host Tigers In Friendly

13th June, 2008

Winterton Rangers are to play Premier League new boys Hull City in a pre-season friendly at West Street.

It takes place on Tuesday 15th July, kick-off 7.45pm.

Rangers' Assistant Secretary, Brian Crowder said: "We are delighted that Hull City have agreed to visit West Street again.

"Last year Phil Brown brought a full squad who we surprised winning 3-2 with a Rob Northen hat-trick.

"It gave us a fillip before the season and we hope for similar this year."

Winterton have formed a partnership with Hull City over recent years.

The Tigers' U19 team have played their home games at West Street for the last two seasons whilst their reserves have also held a number of games there.

League Two side Grimsby Town are also to visit West Street on Friday 11th July.

In the past, Winterton was always Grimsby's opening friendly but the fixture recently fell by the wayside.

But, it is back this summer and Alan Buckley will be bringing a mixed squad back for what will be a busy few days for Pete Daniel's men.
