Major Striker Coup For Shirebrook
29th May, 2008
Shirebrook Town have beaten a host of other clubs to secure the signature of last season's top goalscorer in the NCEL, Ant Lynam.
Ant played for Dinnington Town last year and scored 44 goals in all competitions.
He has previously played for Glapwell and Ashover in the Midland Regional Alliance.
Manager Pete Shuttleworth told the club's website: "This is an absolutely fantastic signing for the club and one which signals our intent for the coming season.
"When we drew up our list of targets at the end of last season, a goalscorer was a main priority and we have signed one of the best in the league.
"Ant has been tracked by a lot of other clubs, but Mark Hall (General Manager) has worked really hard over the last month or so to sell the club to Ant and he deserves credit for getting him to sign."
The club have said that will not be the end of the new faces at Langwith Road.
Shuttleworth added: "There is an unbelievable amount of hard work going on behind the scenes to ensure this club moves forward and starts to compete at the top of the division.
"We are in the process of appointing a back room staff to make the club more professional and the committee start work on a new toilet block and re-surfacing the pitch in the next week, amongst a list of other projects.
"This club is buzzing at the moment because people are starting to see that the club have ambition to move forward and get into the UniBond League."
