Brodsworth Hail New Chapter
22nd April, 2008
The curtain is soon to be drawn on what can only be seen as a successful season for Brodsworth Welfare.
Over the years, the club have not had anything good to shout about with a number of back-to-back bottom place finishes and were regarded as many as the whipping boys of the league.
Richard Sennett took the reins and things were taking shape pre-season until clubs higher in the pyramid swooped in for a number of Sennett's key players.
The season was looking to be another certain relegation dogfight until Richard was introduced to the then Hatfield Main manager Mark Turner.
Sennett brought Turner in on a joint managerial role and things went from strength to strength.
Turner had been successful the previous season winning the Central Midlands League Premier Division title with his former club and had been challenging for honours this time round.
He said: "Chairman Gordon Jennings and Richard presented me with managing a club two steps higher in the pyramid, an offer which was too good to turn down.
"I knew I had the contacts in the game to pull in some experienced players, players who would die for the cause, and they proved me right.
"With two games remaining, our aim is to take maximum points before the players take a well deserved break - a luxury, unfortunately, me and Richard won't have as we will be extremely busy this summer in preparation for the new season."
With Sennett and Turner steering the ship, Brodsworth look to have finally found a little stability and all involved down at the Welfare are already excited about the club's future.
