Long Eaton Management Team Quits
18th April, 2008
Craig Weston has quit as manager of Long Eaton United, accusing the Premier Division club of lacking ambition, reports the Derbyshire Evening Telegraph.
He announced his departure, along with assistant Steve Hamilton, with only two games of the season remaining.
Weston revealed he had become increasingly frustrated by certain decisions being made within the club and that he felt "let down".
"The decision not to go for UniBond League football was a real disappointment," he said.
"It came at a time when we were in a decent position and we could have really gone for it.
"But failure to even apply for entry into the league really knocked the stuffing out of myself and the players.
"I wish the players all the best and I'm sure I will cross paths with some of them in the future. I am sad to leave but I had to make this decision for myself."
Weston is now looking for another job which matches his aspirations.
He said: "I want to get back into football straight away and will be looking out for another club, either in the UniBond League, or with ambitions of getting there."
