Rossington Main have announced the sad news of the passing of their club president, Maxi Hughes.

A statement on the Toolstation NCEL Division One side's website said they were "deeply saddened", adding: "We'll always remember Maxi fondly and feel lucky that we had the pleasure of knowing him.

"Maxi will be very sadly missed by all at the club and the community. He had been a part of the committee for many years. Our condolences to Maxi and his family.

"We will hold a minute silence at our home game on Saturday against Brigg Town to pay our respects to the great Maxi Hughes."
