Gate lady passes away at Parkgate

Toolstation NCEL Division One side Parkgate have announced the sad passing of Shirley Pollock who had been the gate lady at the club for the past seven years.

Shirley died on Tuesday at the age of 84 and club secretary Bruce Bickerdike led the tributes, saying that she always welcomed everybody to the ground at Roundwood, and enjoyed a good conversation with all the spectators and match officials.

He added: "Shirley was a very well respected lady and ladies football was her life.

"She had a vast knowledge of players and teams in the Sheffield and Hallamshire area, and she was also former secretary of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Women's County League as well as Rotherham United Ladies - she will be truly missed."

Her funeral will be held at the Rotherham Crematorium, Ridgeway, Rotherham, S65 3NN, on Wednesday 8th January, 2020, at 2pm.
