2nd December, 2007
Two charities are ?500 richer after the biggest ever crowd watched a match at Inkersall Road.
292 were at the NCEL Division One match on Saturday between Staveley Miners Welfare and Scarborough game.
And, as promised, Baris Group Ltd. will now donate two lots of ?500 to the charities chosen by the supporters of both sides.
The home supporters chose Ashgate Hospice at Old Brampton, Chesterfield, and the away fans chose St Catherine's Hospice in Scarborough to receive the donations if the previous attendance record of 280, held since 1994, was beaten.
Baris Group Ltd. Managing Director Terry Damms said: "This was an opportunity for the club, along with Baris Group Ltd, to provide a little help to two worthwhile charities and we managed to beat the previous record attendance with a lot of hard work by everyone concerned.
"There were over 100 children and OAPs who attended the game free of charge and that was also something the club was delighted to see.
"I would like to thank both sets of supporters and everyone concerned in assisting the club to achieve its best ever attendance.
"And, the two cheques for ?500 each will be winging their way to the chosen charities thanks again to Baris Group Ltd."
