Dinnington Announce Development Plans
14th June, 2008
Dinnington Town Football Club make great strides this week in their endeavour to bring the club into the big time.
After a great season winning the Northern Counties East League Division One title and securing promotion to the Premier League, Town have kept development plans under wraps until securing final permissions.
In April, Town received approval from CISWO, the ground's owners, to move forward with plans to develop the Phoenix Park Ground.
Immediately, Town's Club Secretary and Development Manager Chris Dearns put together a DTFC Project team.
He said: "After a great season, this news has come just at the right time.
"The club needs to maintain momentum going forward but we were worried our existing facilities would hold the club up as we strive to move up the leagues.
"The club formed in 2000 and from that time we have made a great impact in the Dinnington community.
"The club now boasts 14 teams but have little or no facilities for the Junior teams and limited facilities for the Senior team. We have held the top FA Community Charter for nearly four years and believe it is now our turn to be awarded for our hard work.
"The ?1,000,000 project will provide a clubhouse for all the teams, changing rooms, toilets and disabled facilities.
"It is important we increase the number of pitches for our growing junior section, provide a much needed all weather training pitch and increase security and safety of the site.
"We have put a great Project team together, John and Rayna Cawkwell-Stansfield from Dinnington based CS Surveying & Architectural Design Ltd who will secure planning and detailing the project.
"And, Mindy Davies and Louise Tiderwell from Sports Consultants Plan4Sport will secure the funding.
"Both companies have, in a short time, made inroads into the estimated ?1,000,000 project. Surveys have taken place and feasibility studies are underway."
The club has to raise ?10,000 towards the initial fees, and fund raising is going well with nearly ?6,000 in the bank but more is needed.
Anyone who would like to help with sponsorship or in the development is act to contact Chris Dearns on 07802 542335
He added: "Realistically we are 18 months away from seeing anything concrete but we are really excited and will do every thing to make this a success."
