Toolstation NCEL Premier Division leaders Staveley Miners Welfare's seven-match unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday whilst Selby Town returned to the top of Division One for the first time since August with their biggest win of the season.

The continuing bad weather meant the fixtures list was once again badly affected with six games each being played in both divisions.

Staveley saw their lead at the top cut to three points after they went down 1-0 to an ever-improving Barton Town who are now up to eleventh in the table, Matthew Plummer grabbing the only goal of the game in the 37th minute.

Title challengers Penistone Church and Yorkshire Amateur both took advantage of the Trojans' loss with home victories to move themselves to within touching distance of the summit.

Penistone raced into a 3-0 lead over Bottesford Town with Andrew Ring's opener added to by a Luke Stewart brace by the half-hour and, although Ewen Train pulled one back for the visitors early in the second period, Church claimed a useful 3-1 win.

The Ammers, meanwhile, defeated Goole AFC as Ashley Flynn's first half strike was added to in the second period by Aiden Savory for a 2-0 scoreline that cuts the gap between the third-placed side and the top to five points.

Garforth Town, Knaresborough Town and Maltby Main were also victorious on their own patch, meaning that all six Premier Division games were won by the hosts.

Alex Burton's early double saw Garforth prevail at the expense of Eccleshill United who were beaten 2-1, Jacob Buchanan with an injury time consolation for the Eagles, whilst Jack Carr struck twice for Knaresborough as they dispatched sixth-placed Grimsby Borough 3-0.

Robert Youhill got the third for Paul Stansfield's side who move up to fifteenth in the table.

And, Maltby defeated Hemsworth Miners Welfare 4-1, Jonathan Hill scoring twice with one each for Sam Liversidge and Rory Coleman whilst a James Pollard own goal broke the duck for the visitors.

Selby lead Division One on goal difference after an 11-2 home rout of bottom side East Hull with Casey Stewart leading the way with four of their goals and there was a hat-trick for Joshua Rogerson.

Joshua Walker struck twice for the Robins and there was one each for Joshua Rogerson and Samuel Cable in a game the home side led 7-1 at half-time, Joshua Ward's first half penalty for the away side added to by Iuri Braz in the second period.

Winterton Rangers began the day at the summit but were beaten at home by promotion rivals Campion as the chase to finish in the top four hots up.

Aidan Kirby broke the deadlock in the opening minute of the second half for the visitors and Nathan Peat equalised before goals in the last quarter-of-an-hour from Andrew McCreadie and Leon Hurles-Brook secured the 3-1 win that keeps Campion fifth and three points off fourth position.

Skegness Town and North Ferriby moved closer to top spot with home victories that keep themselves third and fourth, respectively.

Daniel Trott's quickfire double just before the interval secured a 2-1 win for Skegness over Armthorpe Welfare who pulled one back on 66 minutes through Jack Owen.

Skegness are a point off the summit and four points ahead of North Ferriby who, thanks to Tom Corner, Jamie Forrester and Luke Lofts, defeated Brigg Town 3-1 with Joe Smithson netting a last-minute goal for the Zebras who stay seventeenth.

Retford FC were 2-0 home winners over Glasshoughton Welfare in a match at the Rail that pitted sixth versus seventh, Adam Scott and Callum Wilson with the first half goals that makes it a four point gap between the two sides.

And, Ollerton Town came from behind to win 2-1 at Rossington Main, Tyla Bell putting the hosts ahead before Callum Littlejohn's leveller and an 83rd minute decider from George Slack for the visitors who leap to fifteenth, a point and a place behind their hosts.
