Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2019/20 #48

6th February, 2020

Yorkshire Amateur and Selby Town have kept their title aspirations very much alive in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division and Division One, respectively, with away victories in midweek.

The Ammers move up to third, within three points of the Premier Division summit, after a 3-1 win at Handsworth.

Adam Priestley put the visitors ahead on thirteen minutes before they doubled their advantage on the hour mark through Roy Fogarty and then Stephen Crawford added a third in the final quarter-of-an-hour.

Luke Rawson got a late consolation for the Ambers who stay in fifteenth but have a number of games in hand on all of the sides around them so should be confident of finishing outside of the bottom six.

Selby, meanwhile, were 2-0 winners at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and climb up to second in Division One, three points behind leaders Winterton Rangers but with two games in hand.

Liam Flanagan and Joshua Rogerson struck either side of half-time to defeat their hosts who remain in eighteenth spot but ten points above the relegation trapdoor.

Dronfield Town leap above their hosts Parkgate into twelfth after beating them 1-0, Jamie Willis with the only goal of the game on 63 minutes in a match where both sides were reduced to ten men.

Thackley are through to the semi-finals of this season's West Riding County Cup after a 2-1 home win over holders Ossett United.

The Northern Premier League visitors broke the deadlock in the first half but Albert Ibrahimi levelled matters on the hour and the Dennyboys pulled off an excellent shock, courtesy of an own goal in the 89th minute.

Meanwhile, Hall Road Rangers' East Riding Senior Cup quarter-final at home to Hull City U23s was postponed following the tragic news of the passing of Tigers academy coach Kris Blakeston at the age of 40 following his short battle with cancer.

All at the NCEL send our deepest condolences to Hull City Academy and to Kris' family and friends.
