Midweek Match Review
15th February, 2008
Liversedge will face Armthorpe Welfare for the Presidents Cup after beating Winterton Rangers in the Semi-Finals.
In what was a very tight game between first and third in the Premier Division, Sedge scored the only goal at West Street to book their place in the two-legged Final at the start of April.
Meanwhile, Parkgate are through to the Semi-Finals of the League Cup after a 3-1 win at Glapwell.
Steve Ward put them ahead on 14 minutes and Glapwell missed a penalty before they drew level just after the hour mark through Ian Brown.
But, Parkgate regained the lead less than sixty seconds later thanks to Ryan Johnson and David Taylor made sure of the victory with three minutes remaining.
They will now travel to Barton Town Old Boys or Lincoln Moorlands Railway in the last four on Easter Monday.
Meanwhile, Hallam and Bottesford Town will have to meet again next Wednesday after their League Cup clash at Sandygate was abandoned due to fog.
The stoppage came eight minutes into the second period with the home side leading 2-0.
The promotion chase continues to hot up in Division One with vital victories for Gedling Town and Rainworth Miners Welfare.
Gedling won 2-0 at home to Rossington Main as an eleventh-minute own goal and an Alan Jefferies penalty set them on their way to a win that puts them only one point behind second-placed Bottesford Town.
One further point behind are Rainworth who now have a five point cushion between themselves and the side just below them, Teversal, after beating them 2-1 in a local derby at the Welfare Ground.
Malc Brown and Danny Naylor put the Wrens two up before Danny Tighe grabbed a late consolation for the visitors.
Leeds Met Carnegie came from three goals down by half-time to pick up a point at home to Barton Town Old Boys.
Barton had seemingly got the win in the bag as two from Gareth Barlow and one from Mark Anderson put them firmly in the driving seat.
But, Leeds Met, who were playing their seventh game in fifteen days, showed great resilience and goals from Joe Rossiter, Paul Harrison and James Elliott saw the match finish 3-3.
Scarborough Athletic moved up to ninth after a morale-boosting 3-1 win at home to Hall Road Rangers.
They had gone behind through a seventh-minute Paul Palmer strike but they got the victory with an excellent second-half display as Ryan Morton claimed the equaliser and Craig Hogg grabbed a brace.
Goals from Gavin Birmingham and Allan Laud earned AFC Emley a 2-1 win at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, a victory that moved them up to eleventh.
Richard Elson got the only goal of the game for Athletic.
