Barton Town Old Boys produced the shock of the League Cup Third Round by beating Premier Division side South Normanton Athletic.

Craig Burdick's 22nd-minute strike was enough to send the Division One hosts through to the last eight in a midweek that saw the Quarter-Final line-up completed.

Barton will now be at home to Lincoln Moorlands Railway who progressed at home to Eccleshill United the previous week.

All the other ties went as expected although Rainworth Miners Welfare came to within a penalty shoot-out of knocking out UniBond promotion favourites, Glapwell.

They came from behind with a Matt Varley own goal fifteen minutes from the end of normal time to force a further half-hour after Nathan Hollingworth had given the visitors the lead in the opening period.

With no further goals, the game was decided on spot kicks with Rainworth's Craig Hall being the unfortunate one to miss as Glapwell went through 5-4 on penalties.

Glapwell will now entertain Parkgate who beat visitors Glasshoughton Welfare by a single goal, Jon Pickess with the strike five minutes from time.

A brace from Brenton Leister, with one from the penalty spot, towards the beginning and the end of the game saw Selby Town through 2-0 at home to Borrowash Victoria.

They will now face Winterton Rangers at the Flaxley Road Ground after the Premier Division leaders won 5-1 against visitors Hall Road Rangers.

Second half strikes from James Tevendale and Scott Bates set up a Quarter-Final home tie against Bottesford Town for Hallam after they secured a 2-0 home win over Armthorpe Welfare.

Meanwhile, there was disappointment for the remaining two NCEL clubs in the West Riding County Cup as both bowed out at the Third Round stage.

Eccleshill United and Thackley had been given tough trips to UniBond opposition.

Cameron Kerin got on the scoresheet for Eccleshill but they went down 4-1 at Bradford Park Avenue.

And, Thackley went ahead through an early Danny Forrest penalty at Harrogate Railway but two goals in the last six minutes saw the hosts progress with a 3-1 victory.

Leeds Met Carnegie went down 3-2 at Northumbria University in BUSA Premier League North.
