Midweek Match Review
20th September, 2007
Dinnington Town have become the fifth NCEL side to make it through to the Second Round of Qualifying for the FA Cup.
A dramatic last-minute strike in extra time sent them through with a 2-1 victory at Penrith Town.
Michael Blythen had seemingly set them well on their way with the opener on seven minutes before Wayne Robertson levelled matters just before the interval.
Then, as the game looked as it was going to spot kicks, Ben Rosser sent Dinnington through much to the delight of the visiting support.
Bottesford Town also tasted success, this time in the Lincolnshire Senior "A" Cup.
Goals from Paul Chatterton and Simon Drayton saw them progress to the Second Round with a 2-1 win at home to Boston Town, after the visitors had opened with a John Rowan strike.
Meanwhile, the final three matches in the First Round of the Presidents Cup took place this midweek.
South Normanton Athletic hit five to go through to the Quarter-Finals at Long Eaton United.
The Shiners took the lead through Kieran Saxton before Alex Steadman levelled on 24 minutes.
Nick Ghislanzoni restored their advantage after the half-hour mark and then Dean Whiley and Joel Hodgkinson put the game beyond doubt to make it 4-1 with thirteen minutes remaining.
Matt McCaul hauled one back for Long Eaton before Hodgkinson added his second and Athletic's fifth in injury time.
Nostell Miners Welfare's Danny Highley has undergone surgery after breaking his leg in their Cup encounter at Pickering Town.
The game was held up for thirty minutes as he received treatment and was taken to hospital ? earlier, he scored what proved to be the only goal of the game to send Welfare through.
Armthorpe Welfare also progressed with a 4-1 victory at Mickleover Sports.
