West Yorkshire Club In NCEL Plea
23rd October, 2007
A West Yorkshire League club want to talk to any club in the NCEL about purchasing or leasing a football ground.
Old Headingley AFC, who currently play in the West Yorkshire League Division One, contacted the official NCEL website, saying: "We have had a rapid and successful progression from our inception in 2001 and we are looking to take that further.
"Although we are spending a lot of money developing our current Woodhall Ground, it would be beneficial at present to us if we could use facilities that already lend themselves to West Yorkshire League criteria rather than start from scratch.
"Although it is a sensitive situation, and we are not trying to profit from other clubs misfortune, we would be willing to talk to any clubs that are struggling to cope with the costs and running of their ground, and are considering folding due to these problems.
"The sad fact is that clubs do actually fold, and sometimes this is down to finances or the inability to find the manpower to run the day-to-day activities of an amateur football club.
"In this situation, Old Headingley may be able to help out long-term.
"While we are happy developing our Woodhall Ground, we would still be interested in talking to any parties that need help, and have a football ground that may otherwise go to waste or ruin.
