NCEL Press Statement Re: Scarborough
11th June, 2007
The Northern Counties East League have tonight released a press statement regarding the situation surrounding Scarborough FC.
The statement, released by Vice President Barry Wood on behalf of the NCE Management Board, reads as follows:
The League has been approached by two different entities representing (the former) Scarborough FC, namely AFC Scarborough by the club Chairman Ian Scobbie and Scarborough Athletic by the Seadog Trust representing the supporters club trust.
Those enquiries were communicated to our clubs at the League's AGM on Sunday 10th June and their views obtained.
The clubs were prepared to accept a Scarborough club into Division One as a late applicant - a Premier Division place was not available.
It will be necessary for interested parties in Scarborough to organise one club application and it will have to be vetted by the NCE board to ensure adequate governance in all aspects of club management and will have to receive County FA/FA approval.
The NCE states that June 24th (14 days after the AGM) is the final date for our consideration of acceptance as we are not prepared to put at risk the successful organisation of our own league for the new season.
