Poachers captain reaches milestone this weekend

3rd September, 2021

Bottesford Town captain Michael Jones will reach 1,000 appearances in men's football when he turns out for the Poachers this weekend.

The Toolstation NCEL Premier Division club are urging as many people as possible to come along and celebrate his milestone when Eccleshill United are the visitors to Birch Park on Saturday.

Michael, known as Mick, posted on social media earlier this week: "Saturday the 4th of September marks my 1,000th game in men's football.

"All players, staff and supporters - both past and present - are more than welcome, also any family and friends that want to pop along, please do.

"So, if you're at a loose end or just want to come and watch the game and say a quick hello, Bottesford Town has a great little on site bar/clubhouse where you can have a drink and catch up after the game."

Meanwhile, one of Mick's former clubs, Garforth Town, presented him with a framed certificate when Bottesford played a match at the Miners last weekend.

All at the Toolstation NCEL congratulate Mick on his milestone, it is an outstanding achievement and we hope he has a fantastic afternoon.
