85 goals were scored in an action-packed weekend in the Toolstation NCEL that saw North Ferriby's unbeaten start finally rewarded with top spot in Division One.Six went in at the Bradley Football Development Centre as
Grimsby Borough maintained their three point lead at the summit in the Premier Division with a 5-1 home victory over
AFC Mansfield in a game that saw both sides end with ten men.
Lewis Collins' penalty and a Reece York strike had Borough 2-0 up by the interval and Adam Drury added a third on the hour before Luke Walker's spot kick broke the duck for the visiting Bulls.
Jordan Barnett and Thomas Jamieson completed the victory in the last ten minutes of an eventful afternoon that had seen Daniel Trott dismissed for the hosts and Sam King for Mansfield.
The top five sides all won so
Eccleshill United remain second after Luke Aldrich's hat-trick helped them to a 4-3 success at
Staveley Miners Welfare after the home side had raced into a three goal lead in the opening nine minutes.
Hass Gorji grabbed a double to add to early goals from Daniel Coupland and Fergus McAughrie as third-placed
Garforth Town defeated basement visitors
Athersley Recreation 4-0, and
Sherwood Colliery's 2-0 home victory over
Bottesford Town, with goals from Kieran Wells and Timothy Gregory, keeps them fourth.
Handsworth completed a perfect afternoon for the top sides with a 1-0 win against visitors
Knaresborough Town, Sam Smith with the vital strike on eight minutes.
Next-to-bottom
Hemsworth Miners Welfare picked up their first home league victory of the season in style as they thrashed the side just above them
Albion Sports 7-2 with two goals each for Andrew Higgins and Jakub Hebda whilst Harry Viggars, Charlie Barks and Layton Swaine also got on the scoresheet for them.
Barton Town were 6-4 winners
Thackley in another high scoring game, Harrison Coley with three of the Swans' goals in a match that saw them leading 2-1 going into the final quarter-of-an-hour.
George Doyle converted a 72nd minute decider for
Emley AFC as they beat visitors
Goole AFC 2-1 whilst
Penistone Church won 2-0 on their travels, Edward Newsome and Brett Lovell netting at
Winterton Rangers.
And, Mohammed Qasim's injury-time equaliser snatched a point for
Silsden AFC in a 2-2 home draw with
Maltby Main.
In Division One, North Ferriby made it sixteen games without defeat in the league as they won 3-0 at
Armthorpe Welfare to take over as leaders for the first time this season.
The breakthrough came from a Daniel East penalty early in the second period before goals in the final ten minutes from Matthew Plummer and Thomas Corner made sure of the victory for the Villagers.
They go above
Rossington Main who dropped to third after a 2-1 home loss to
Parkgate, Tyla Bell's late penalty proving not enough after Jake Ellam and Thomas Almond had scored for the Steelmen.
A Scott Phillips hat-trick helped
Brigg Town to a 4-2 home win over
Swallownest to lift the Zebras up into second with
Hallam who were without a game, dropping to fourth.
Harrogate Railway Athletic are fifth following their 0-0 draw at
Hall Road Rangers, the only goalless game of the weekend, and
Nostell Miners Welfare are sixth after a 4-0 victory at home to neighbours
Glasshoughton Welfare.
Danny Edwards, Joe Wood, Nathan Hawkhead and Alexander Haigh made it a convincing win in the match that was played on Friday night.
The highest goalscorer of the weekend was Gavin King who netted all of
Ollerton Town's goals in a 5-0 victory at local rivals
Teversal who remain in the basement.
There were also home defeats for the other sides in the bottom three,
Rainworth Miners Welfare and
FC Humber United, with a Callum Mawbey brace condemning Rainworth to a 2-1 loss to
Dronfield Town.
George White, Alex Wonham, Matthew Parkin and Adam Scott all got one each for
Retford FC as they beat Humber 4-1.
And,
Selby Town came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at
Clipstone, Liam Flanagan with the 81st minute winner, whilst Liam Pritchard and Nathan Jessop were the scorers for
Shirebrook Town as they beat visitors
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic 2-1.
