21st March, 2014
Two sides have booked their places in the Semi-Finals of the Toolstation NCEL League Cup after the Fourth Round got underway in midweek.
Justin Jenkins' goal in extra-time saw Long Eaton United progress at Pickering Town on Tuesday with a 2-1 victory after Lewis Taylor's 88th minute equaliser for the Pikes cancelled out Courey Grantham's opener to force a further half-hour.
They are joined in the final four by their fellow Derbyshire neighbours Heanor Town who won 2-0 at Retford United on Thursday, Kieran Debrouwer's 49th goal of the season opening their account before Nathan Benger made sure of the victory in the 81st minute.
There was also cup joy for Bridlington Town who are through to the Final of the East Riding Senior Cup after a 1-0 victory on Tuesday over Beverley Town at the County FA Headquarters in Hull, Ashley Allanson's goal midway through the second period was enough to see off their Humber Premier League opponents.
Third-placed Brighouse Town moved slightly closer to the top of the table with a 1-1 draw at Thackley in midweek, Ernest Boafo's late leveller getting them a point after James Firth had put the hosts ahead on 65 minutes, and Brighouse are now nine points behind leaders Tadcaster Albion but with five games in hand.
Heanor Town are fifth after Nick Hall's strike on 88 minutes claimed them a 2-2 draw at home to Athersley Recreation and Albion Sports's 4-0 victory at bottom side Lincoln Moorlands Railway moved them up into sixth, Thomas Dugdale's brace helping the Lions to a comfortable win, whilst Railway remain thirteen points away from safety with eight games left to play.
Nostell Miners Welfare drew 0-0 at home to Armthorpe Welfare to pick up another point in their survival hopes.
Lee Whittington's hat-trick helped Worksop Parramore to a 7-1 thrashing of hosts Liversedge and Parkgate won 2-1 at home to Retford United.
The Division One title chase took another twist with third-placed Shaw Lane Aquaforce being beaten 3-1 at home by Dronfield Town who are fifteenth after their victory.
Jason St Juste gave Aquaforce a third-minute lead but the scores were level by the half-hour mark through Daniel Wood who then netted his second to put the visitors ahead early in the second period and Steve Whitehead's penalty made sure of the points with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.
Aquaforce stay third, five points behind leaders Bottesford Town with a game in hand.
Fifth-placed Pontefract Collieries' promotion hopes are all-but extinguished after they were beaten 1-0 at home by Knaresborough Town, Blaine Hobson with the vital strike on 82 minutes.
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic beat visitors Eccleshill United, 4-0, to climb above their opponents into seventh, Grimsby Borough won 3-0 at home to Teversal and Dinnington Town were 1-0 victors at Hallam.
