Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #25
3rd November, 2013
The gap has closed a little on the top two in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division as both Tadcaster Albion and Thackley dropped points on a wet and blustery Saturday.
Tadcaster drew 2-2 at Barton Town Old Boys with the Brewers stretching their unbeaten run to eighteen games with goals from Carl Stewart and Nick Thompson.
Luke Thompson had given Barton an early lead before the visitors' double strike had them ahead by the interval but Ryan Cooper made sure the points were shared on the hour mark.
Tadcaster are now two points clear of Thackley who were thumped 7-2 at Pickering Town with Joe Danby and Josh Greening getting a hat-trick each for the Pikes who have moved up into eighth spot.
Brighouse Town and Bridlington Town took advantage with away victories at Retford United and Winterton Rangers, respectively.
Danny Nadiole struck twice for Brighouse as they beat the Badgers, 5-2, whilst Bridlington came from 2-0 down to win 4-2 at Winterton, Paul Sykes' own goal on 55 minutes added to by Frank Belt, James Bennett and Joel Sutton.
Winterton were not the only struggling side to taste defeat, in fact all the rest of the bottom four sides were beaten.
Nostell Miners Welfare remain stranded in the basement after their 6-0 home loss to Athersley Recreation who climbed up to sixth with Robert Cartwright's double helping them to the victory.
Lincoln Moorlands Railway succumbed to their sixth straight defeat, losing 3-0 at Glasshoughton Welfare and Parkgate were beaten 5-1 at home by Heanor Town.
Garforth Town were 2-0 winners at Long Eaton United and Albion Sports beat hosts Liversedge, 5-4, but the home side almost threatened a remarkable comeback as they were 5-1 down by the interval.
In Division One, Bottesford Town stay third after a 0-0 draw at Clipstone whilst the local derby between Teversal and Shirebrook Town was the other game to end goalless.
Sam Eckhardt's hat-trick, including two penalties, helped Hallam to a 4-4 draw at fifth-placed Eccleshill United and Chris Adams also netted three times in Hall Road Rangers' 6-2 victory at next-to-bottom Dinnington Town.
Louth Town continue to prop up the rest after they lost for the sixth game in a row, 2-1 at AFC Emley, Alex Hallam with the winner for the home side seconds after Louth's Marcus Mason had cancelled out Paul Sykes' early opener.
Kyle Bensley converted a couple of penalties to earn Grimsby Borough a 2-1 home win over Knaresborough Town whilst Yorkshire Amateur beat visitors Rossington Main, 2-0, and Appleby Frodingham moved out of the bottom two with a 2-2 draw at home to Pontefract Collieries.
The Premier Division clash between Staveley Miners Welfare and Basford United was called off due to a waterlogged pitch whilst the Division One matches between Dronfield Town and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, and Shaw Lane Aquaforce's clash versus Hemsworth Miners Welfare were also postponed due to the wet weather.
