Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #24
31st October, 2013
Tadcaster Albion and Cleethorpes Town are the new leaders of Toolstation NCEL Premier Division and Division One, respectively, after victories in midweek.
Two goals in the last eight minutes from Carl Stewart snatched Tadcaster a 2-1 victory at Worksop Parramore after Sam Smith's strike early in the second period had seemingly given the home side the points.
Cleethorpes also came from behind to pick up three points at Shirebrook Town to move above Shaw Lane Aquaforce, although their revival was not quite as dramatic, with Marc Cooper's 44th minute strike cancelling out Aaron Moxam's opener before Luke Mascall ensured the victory with a winner as time was running out.
Elsewhere, Long Eaton United were the only other side to win on their travels in the league, Shaun Rickford and Matt Savage with their goals in a 2-1 victory at Armthorpe Welfare.
Two goals each for Joe Thornton, Kieron Scargill and Adam White helped Athersley Recreation to an 8-1 home victory over Lincoln Moorlands Railway whilst there were also big wins on their own patch for Bridlington Town, Albion Sports and Barton Town Old Boys.
Bridlington beat Heanor Town, 5-0, with Craig Hogg netting twice whilst Craig Palmer, Joel Sutton and Ashley Allanson also scored with all the Seasiders' goals coming in a thirteen minute second-half period.
Albion Sports won 4-0 against Winterton Rangers with Daniel Facey grabbing a hat-trick and a double from Gareth Barlow helped Barton to the same scoreline at the expense of Pickering Town.
Pat Lindley's strike earned a single goal victory at home to Parkgate for Staveley Miners Welfare whilst Basford United won 2-1 against visitors Garforth Town.
Fraser Lancaster scored four of Knaresborough Town's six without reply at Rossington Main in the First Round of the League Cup.
Selby Town went through 3-2 after extra time at Yorkshire Amateur, Daniel Gray with the vital strike on 97 minutes.
And, Hemsworth Miners Welfare beat visitors Grimsby Borough, 4-2 on spot kicks, after their tie ended goalless after 120 minutes of football.
