Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #21

20th October, 2013

Ten Toolstation NCEL sides are in to the hat for the Second Round draw of the FA Carlsberg Vase after victories on Saturday.

Two went through at the expense of league rivals with Jay Rollins' last minute winner sneaking Armthorpe Welfare through, 4-3 at Liversedge, and Matthew Morgan's strike towards the end of the first half claimed a 1-0 victory for Thackley at home to Eccleshill United.

Two goals from Matthew Plant helped Parkgate to a breathless 5-4 win at Bootle whilst a Frank Belt penalty and a Craig Hogg strike secured Bridlington Town's passage, 2-0 at home to Sunderland RCA.

Athersley Recreation were 3-2 victors at Chadderton with Joe Thornton getting two of their goals and it was a comfortable afternoon for Cleethorpes Town who progressed with a 5-0 win over their hosts Harborough Town.

Kieran Debrouwer claimed another hat-trick, his fifth of the season, as Heanor Town beat visitors Kirby Muxloe, 4-2, and there were 2-0 home wins for Long Eaton United against Boston Town and for Staveley Miners Welfare over West Didsbury & Chorlton.

Lee Whittington struck twice, once from the penalty spot, in Worksop Parramore's 3-1 victory at home to Runcorn Linnets but there was disappointment for Garforth Town, Lincoln Moorlands Railway and Retford United who all bowed out to sides from other leagues.

Tadcaster Albion moved up to second in the Premier Division as Carl Stewart and Danny Critchlow struck in their 2-0 victory at Glasshoughton Welfare and the Brewers are now three points behind leaders Thackley.

Brighouse Town climbed into the top four with a 5-2 win at Albion Sports, Tom Matthews with a brace along with goals from Ryan Hall, Danny Nadiole and Luke Gibson.

Pickering Town were 3-0 home winners against bottom side Nostell Miners Welfare and are now up into sixth whilst there was a 1-1 draw between Barton Town Old Boys and Basford United and Maltby Main beat hosts Winterton Rangers, 5-1, with two goals each from Brian Cusworth and George Conway.

Division One's match of the day saw the spoils shared as two of the top three clashed, leaders Shaw Lane Aquaforce needing an 86th minute equaliser from Danny Barlow after visitors Bottesford Town had looked to have taken all three points with Daniel Gibbons' first half strike.

Two goals from Scott Turner earned Worsbrough Bridge Athletic a 2-1 victory at Grimsby Borough to close the gap on the three sides above them.

Appleby Frodingham moved off the foot of the table with a 3-1 win at home to Louth Town with their visitors replacing them in the basement.

Tom Hobson gave the hosts a two goal cushion by the interval before their lead was halved by Steven Cooper but Joshua Turgoose eased the home nerves with their third in stoppage time.

Dinnington Town's renaissance continued with a 4-2 win at AFC Emley moving them out of the bottom three at the expense of Hallam who went down 3-2 at Rossington Main.

There were away wins for Pontefract Collieries who beat Clipstone, 3-1, Knaresborough Town who won 2-1 at Teversal and Hemsworth Miners Welfare who were 2-0 victors at Yorkshire Amateur.

And, Dronfield Town won 2-1 at home to Hall Road Rangers whilst Selby Town defeated visitors Shirebrook Town, 4-2, with two goals from Nathan Kamara helping the Robins up into ninth spot.
