Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #19

13th October, 2013

Thackley's lead at the top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division table is now four points after their single goal victory at home to Staveley Miners Welfare on Saturday.

Damian Hopkins' 25th minute strike gave them the narrowest of victories to capitalise on dropped points for the two teams behind them in the standings.

Second placed Retford United drew 2-2 at Basford United with both the Badgers' goals coming from Reece Thompson after Tyeisse Nightingale and Martin Carruthers had twice put the hosts ahead.

Tadcaster Albion were also held by the same scoreline at home by Bridlington Town, Chris Jenkinson grabbing a 74th minute equaliser for the Seasiders.

Lee Bennett and Simon Chadburn netted in the opening quarter of the game for Athersley Recreation in their 2-1 victory at Garforth Town to keep them fourth, ahead of Brighouse Town who moved into the top five with a 2-0 home victory over Nostell Miners Welfare.

Danny Nadiole and Tom Matthews struck in the second half to give them the points against the bottom side.

There were 4-0 victories for Heanor Town and Pickering Town, at home to Barton Town Old Boys and at Parkgate, respectively.

The league's top scorer Kieran Debrouwer opened Heanor's account before Courey Grantham's double and Nathan Benger's hundredth goal for the club completed the scoring.

There were two goals for Josh Greening to help the Pikes to their victory with Tom Adams grabbing a fourth after Reece Wesley's own goal had opened the scoring on the half hour.

Shaun Rickford's brace ensured a 2-0 win for Long Eaton United at next-to-bottom Lincoln Moorlands Railway.

And, there were 1-1 draws for Albion Sports at home to Glasshoughton Welfare, Liversedge at Armthorpe Welfare and Winterton Rangers against visitors Worksop Parramore.

It was a day of massive scorelines in Division One with Teversal being the most goal happy as they thrashed hosts Louth Town, 11-3.

Mark Robinson scored five whilst Sean Gregory added a double and there were further goals for Mark Parkes, Callum Pursglove and David Cockerill as well as an own goal for Danny Marshall.

Johnathan Oglesby netted four times for Cleethorpes Town in their 9-1 home victory over Yorkshire Amateur and there was a hat-trick for Matthew Crane as Hall Road Rangers beat visitors Hallam, 8-3.

Elsewhere, things were more sedate as Shaw Lane Aquaforce maintained their four point advantage at the top of the table with a 2-1 win at Shirebrook Town, Danny Frost and Mark Whitehouse credited with their goals which sandwiched a home strike by Aaron Moxam.

Jake Quickenden scored in stoppage time for second-placed Bottesford Town to win 1-0 at home to Eccleshill United who drop to fifth below Cleethorpes and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

The Briggers beat visitors Appleby Frodingham, 4-0, Danny Cawley with two of the goals against the bottom side.

AFC Emley twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at Dronfield Town to stay sixth, one place above Clipstone who won 4-1 at Knaresborough Town with Carl Haslam scoring twice.

An early penalty from Kyle Bensley and a goal from Luke Fanthorpe put Grimby Borough two up by the 21st minute at Dinnington Town and, although Greg Ramsden pulled one back for the hosts, the away side held out to win 2-1.

Tom Hyde struck twice in Rossington Main's 3-0 victory at Hemsworth Miners Welfare and the spoils were shared between Pontefract Collieries and Selby Town as it ended 1-1 at the Beechnut Lane Stadium.
