Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #17

6th October, 2013

Thackley are back at the top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after the two sides above them played out a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Retford United took the lead against visitors Tadcaster Albion in the fifteenth minute through Liam Wilkin but Carl Stewart levelled for the Brewers midway through the first period to make it a point each.

Chris Davey struck twice for Thackley, meanwhile, as they won 3-0 at Glasshoughton Welfare to return to the summit with Mike Garrod completing the scoring.

The other two sides in the top five suffered defeats, the most surprising being Bridlington Town's 4-0 home defeat by Albion Sports, Levi Maturine and Malachi Farquharson giving the Lions a two goal cushion by the break before Farquharson got his second on 80 minutes and Jerome White added the fourth in stoppage time.

Athersley Recreation went down 3-2 to visitors Brighouse Town with the away side getting their winner in the 86th minute from Sam Hewitt.

Barton Town Old Boys are up to sixth after a Luke Thompson brace helped them to a 4-0 home win over Armthorpe Welfare whilst Garforth Town and Worksop Parramore both dropped places following defeats.

Garforth were beaten 1-0 at Maltby Main, courtesy of Brian Cusworth's 81st minute header, and Parramore lost 2-1 at next-to-bottom Lincoln Moorlands Railway, Jean Desrossiers and Mat Distel with the home side's goals.

Railway's victory means that Nostell Miners Welfare are now four points adrift at the foot of the table after their 2-0 home defeat to Winterton Rangers.

Kieran Debrouwer struck a hat-trick for Heanor Town as they won 5-2 at Staveley Miners Welfare and there was also an away victory for Basford United, 3-2, at Long Eaton United.

Ben Grech-Brooksbank got both of Liversedge's goals as they beat Parkgate, 2-1, at the Clayborn Ground.

Division One leaders Shaw Lane Aquaforce dropped points at home as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Pontefract Collieries, Brenton Leister's 36th minute penalty for the away side cancelled out early in the second period by Ashley Flynn.

Bottesford Town are up into second, four points behind Aquaforce, after two late Martin Pembleton goals earned his side a 2-0 victory at Yorkshire Amateur.

They go above Eccleshill United who drew 1-1 with Shirebrook Town at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium despite taking a 55th minute lead through Austin Hart as Danny Wiltshire grabbed an equaliser just after the midway point in the second half.

A double from Brody Robertson helped Cleethorpes Town to a 3-2 victory at Rossington Main and they climb up into fourth ahead of Worsbrough Bridge Athletic who looked to be getting all three points at Teversal when Liam McFadyen gave them a sixth minute lead but Kristian Whitcombe levelled deep into injury time to make it 1-1.

AFC Emley came from behind to beat visitors Hall Road Rangers, 2-1, with two penalties in the last thirteen minutes in a game which saw the match held up for over an hour after Emley's Adam Todd dislocated an arm.

Dinnington Town are off the bottom of the table after they dumped hosts Appleby Frodingham there by beating them, 3-2, Liam Cartledge with two second-half goals that saw them seal the win.

There were two goals each for Warren Hatfield and Gavin King as Clipstone Welfare won 4-1 at home to Louth Town, Dronfield Town were 3-1 winners at Grimsby Borough, Hallam beat visitors Hemsworth Miners Welfare, 2-1, and there was a single goal victory for Selby Town at home to Knaresborough Town.
