Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #12
19th September, 2013
Six Toolstation NCEL Division One sides booked their places in the First Round of this season's League Cup with victories at the Preliminary stage in midweek.
An injury time strike from William Rowley saw Rossington Main progress in the most dramatic fashion at home to ten-man Louth Town, winning 4-3, whilst Selby Town went through, beating visitors Clipstone 2-1, with Danny Snaith's 89th minute spot-kick ultimately separating the sides.
Hemsworth Miners Welfare were two goals up by the interval before hosts Appleby Frodingham levelled matters by the 69th minute but Neil Towler made sure the away side were the winners as his goal made it 3-2.
There was a comfortable home win for Teversal as they defeated Dinnington Town, 4-1, with Mark Robinson, Lee Townsend, Danny Pearson and Simon Groves finding the net before JoJo Louey got a late consolation for the visitors.
And, there were 3-1 wins for Cleethorpes Town and Shirebrook Town with Jamie Osbourne scoring twice for Cleethorpes at home to Hallam whilst Simon Johnson, Danny Wiltshire and Matthew Thompson converted for Shirebrook at Pontefract Collieries.
In the Premier Division, the remaining 100% record came to an end when leaders Thackley were beaten by Tadcaster Albion who are now third after their victory.
Vincent Dhesi put the Brewers in front in the first half and a Daniel Barrett penalty on 83 minutes made sure of the three points which moved them to within a point at the top.
Retford United are ahead of Tadcaster on goal difference in second spot after a 1-0 victory at Long Eaton United with both sides moving above Bridlington Town who went down 3-2 at Worksop Parramore.
Garforth Town are fifth after their 2-2 home draw with Liversedge, James Riordan restoring parity for the visitors as the game entered injury time.
There were wins for Barton Town Old Boys and Brighouse Town and they both climb into the top eight.
Barton were 5-1 victors at Maltby Main, courtesy of goals from Ryan Cooper, Alex Sherwood, Luke Thompson, Gareth Barlow and Ashley Dexter whilst Ryan Hall struck twice in Brighouse's 2-1 home win over Pickering Town.
Bottom side Nostell Miners Welfare are still searching for their first point after their 4-2 defeat to visitors Glasshoughton Welfare and the side just above them, Lincoln Moorlands Railway, also had a disappointing midweek as they went down 4-0 at home to Armthorpe Welfare.
Two goals each for Tyeisse Nightingale and Courtney Hastings helped Basford United to a 5-1 victory over away side Heanor Town and Parkgate were beaten 2-0 at Winterton Rangers.
And, in the only Division One game of midweek, Shaw Lane Aquaforce missed out on a chance to go back to the top of the table as they lost 1-0 at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic who are now fourth after Chris White's 53rd minute strike.
