Swans get more money for new entrance

21st March, 2019

Barton Town have received a ?50,000 grant from North Lincolnshire Council to help the Swans build a new entrance at the Easy Buy Stadium.

It will be added to the ?100,000 that they received from the Premier League through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund earlier this month.

The new entrance will be located at the opposite end of the ground, off Pasture Road, with the current one being turned into a pedestrian-only gateway into the stadium.

A statement on the club's website said: "Work is already underway, with hopes of completion for some time in pre-season.

"The new entrance will be more accessible for fans and will be easier to locate for away fans who may be unfamiliar with the town.

"Barton Town prides itself on being a community club, and to receive a grant from the local council shows that they believe we are doing our best to serve the community and bring top level football to the town.

"The receiving of two grants from such respected bodies is testament to the hard work being done behind the scenes by our volunteers and committee members.

"A lot of hard work has gone into the applications for these grants and it is thanks to them that these plans are now coming to fruition."

Barton Town Chairman Mark Gregory added: "It is fantastic news to receive this grant, and my most sincere thanks go to the North Lincolnshire Council for awarding us this ?50,000 grant.

"I would also like to thank the people behind the scenes who have all worked so hard to help us receive this grant.

"We are in a very privileged position to have such committed and hard-working volunteers and committee members that all share my vision of taking Barton Town Football Club to a higher standard.

"It'll be touch and go but we hope to have the new entrance completed by September.

"We are a community club, a local club, and we want to create something that the town of Barton will be proud of.

"I want to thank everyone associated with the club for their support."

Swans awarded grant for new entrance

8th March, 2019

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Barton Town have been awarded a ?100,000 grant to assist in the building of a new entrance at the Easy Buy Stadium.

The Swans have been given the cash by the Premier League, through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF).

As sister organisation of the Football Foundation, the FSIF are the largest funders of non-league football in the country.

The entrance will be moved from Marsh Lane to the other side of the ground, off Pasture Road.

This will make the stadium more accessible to supporters as access is currently down a very narrow street that is hidden away from the main road.

The club will then be easier to locate, enhancing the exposure and support it gets.

The current entrance will be maintained but will be for pedestrian access only.

Barton Town chairman Mark Gregory said: "This is great news - not only for the club, but for the town and community too.

"My thanks go to the Football Stadia Improvement Fund and the Premier League for accepting us for this grant.

"I also want to thank everyone who's worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this happen.

"It will allow us to progress and improve grassroots sport in the local area.

"With a more visible entrance, we feel it will make people take notice of us and realise what a fantastic local club this is."

Peter McCormick OBE, chairman of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, said: "It is great to hear that a grant from the Premier League, through the FSIF, is going to help Barton Town FC to install a more accessible entrance to their stadium.

"Through the FSIF, the Premier League is committed to improving the standard of infrastructure at all levels of the game.

"It is important that investment makes its way to lower league clubs, and Barton Town FC's stadium upgrade is a great example of what this funding can do."

Anti-bullying charity game is this weekend

2nd July, 2018

Barton Town will host a match this weekend in support of the Ben Cohen Stand Up Foundation, an anti-bullying charity that pays particular attention to the LGBT community.

It is the world's first foundation dedicated to raising awareness of the long-term, damaging effects of bullying and funding those doing real world work to stop it. Their aim is to stand up against bullying regardless of to whom it happens.

And, because lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people are often targeted by bullies, they give particular attention to this community whilst promoting tolerance and diversity in sports is also central to their mission.

The Swans say they are backing the foundation to support diversity in football, a core value in their community club, and show that homophobia has no place in sport.

The premise of the match is based upon Fantasy Football gaming with an all-time Fantasy England team taking on an all-time Fantasy Rest of the World team.

Players in both teams will include some men and women from the LGBT community and see them wear shirts bearing the names of some of the greatest players in the history of Fantasy Football.

Some of these shirts will be raffled off after the game along with:
Ben Cohen T-shirts signed by the man himself (coming with Certificate of authenticity),
A family ticket to a Scunthorpe United game and
A PS4 games console and Fifa 18 football game.

The winning team captain will be presented with the Rainbow Cup after the match that will take place at the Easy Buy Stadium on Sunday 8th July, kick-off 4pm.

Admission to the match is ?1 for adults whilst under 16s get in for free.
